A beautiful large carved red spiny oyster shell feather. The color is vibrant and beautiful. The large bail of the pendant is stamped with a southwest design and will fit on beaded necklaces or chains (5mm or smaller). It is a large statement pendant almost 3-1/2 inches tall. All metal is solid 925 sterling silver.
In ancient South American cultures, spiny oyster shells were more valuable than gold and silver. Only Shamans or elders were allowed to wear or use them. Spiny oyster shells are difficult to harvest and polish, which makes them much sought after by collectors.
