The orange and red color comes from a higher concentration of copper and iron in the makeup of the stone. The stone has gorgeous dark rich blue color. Larimar is also called "Stefilia's Stone", "Atlantis Stone" and the Caribbean Gem. It is a rare blue variety of the silicate mineral pectolite found only in the Dominican Republic.
