This sterling silver pendant features Carico Lake Turquoise and spiny oyster shell. The Teal Turquoise is from the Carico Lake mine in Nevada. It sits above a red spiny oyster shell. The stones are accented with silver rope and granules. The bail of the pendant is made up of 3 spinning rings - great for fidgety fingers. All metal is solid 925 sterling silver.
In ancient South American cultures, spiny oyster shells were more valuable than gold and silver. Only Shamans or elders were allowed to wear or use them. Spiny oyster shells are very difficult to harvest and polish which makes spiny oysters much sought after by collectors.
